How Does Anxiety Relate To Your Style?

You’re getting dressed to go work or on a date and the critical voice in your head starts to say, “You look fat in that! You can’t wear that colour. You look awful! Just cover up. He or she doesn’t fancy you. Cancel the date and watch Netflix!”

 

Nearly all the women I have worked with for over sixteen years as a psychotherapist ,have not only had relationship anxiety, but are also bothered about their body and appearance.

They don’t feel they can or deserve to dress in the way they really want to, due to body image issues, a critical inner voice.  Ultimately it all balls down to low self-esteem.

TTML Style Psychotherapy™ service is more than working with a personal stylist, image consultant or psychotherapist. It’s the power of all three rolled into one. My aim is to help build your self-esteem so you can let go of anxiety, quiet the critical voice inside of you and start to dress in a way that makes you be the best version of you.

STYLE PSYCHOTHERAPY:  

1| Who Would Have Sessions With Me?

You’re over 18 and booking me because your lack of confidence or self-esteem is leading you to:

  • Blame your weight or looks for the change in your partner’s behaviour, or for not being in a relationship at all.

  • Hear the critical voice when looking in the mirror; you see flaws and don’t know what to wear.

  • Dressing to hide from the world or to look older, even though you have great clothes that still have the tag.

  • Buy  too many clothes and throw them in a room, but don't ever wear as them as they don't fill the hole inside.

  • Have lost a lot of emotional and physical weight; you have a new body, but no idea how to dress it.

  • Think that you’re ready to meet your ‘Soul Mate’, or have fun dating; you want outfits to make you look gorgeous and feel your best.

What I do in sessions is more than pick a few clothes off a rack and upgrade your outer appearance.

 

Many people are unconscious of what they are communicating through the outfits they wear, and when they do become conscious, they are shocked.  

As a psychotherapist who is obsessed with style, I am aware of when you get clear on the issues that are blocking you from getting what you want, you can then start to improve yourself and how your inner self is being reflected outwardly.

 

This can lead you to become more successful in your relationships, career and how you approach your life as you are being your authentic self.

2| How Do The Sessions Work?

In the sessions we will:

  • ​Identify why you do or don’t wear certain clothing and accessories.

  • Look at what you really want to wear and the psychology behind why you don’t wear certain things.

  • Explore how you view yourself and how this reflects in your clothing choices, make-up, accessories and style.

  • Analyse how your perception of yourself may be impacting negatively on how others see you simply through the way you dress and style yourself.​

3| The Sessions

You will be supported to:

  •  Identify your personal style, where you are and want to be.

  • Learn how to adopt clothing that feels right for you and projects positivity.

  • Look at your make-up choices; hair style etc. and how to get the right look for you.

  • Meet the’ real’ you; I will share the various stylist tools and strategies that will support you to dress from a place of authenticity.

  • Analyse what has impacted on your confidence i.e. who has hurt or continues to hurt your self-esteem, and how to make massive changes so you can develop the self-belief you desire.

 

4| How Will Sessions Help?

 

  • As you grow as a person, your relationships will change, and so will your style. You know your body shape, the colours that make you pop, the cuts, textures and make- up that make you feel.

  • You will value yourself more, and feel your self-esteem rising; these changes on the inside will be mirrored back by how you positively treat others and expect to be treated.

  • You can wake up in the morning and feel good about your wardrobe, knowing what to wear and the messages you are sending out to others through your style. As everything you own suits you, fits you, and makes you feel good about yourself.

  • You can allow yourself to be loved, and this encourages you to be more loving to yourself and to enjoy wearing the new clothes, accessories and make-up we have picked out, as you have gotten your relationship anxiety under control.

  • You feel better about yourself and your relationships. The insecurity is disappearing; the toxic critical voice is quietened and replaced with a confident, self-assured and loving voice. It encourages you to look your best, be happy, and feel at ease in your world.

50 min session: £100 | 75 minute session £150

Sessions are offered to those who are over 18, via face-to-face or Skype and are a weekly commitment. 

 

Through Style Psychotherapy™, you get to experience first-hand how important it is to work on who you really are on the inside and have that reflected on the outside. This is a genuine style.
